The Information We Collect: This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on this website. On some pages, you can order products, make requests, and register to become a member. The types of personal information collected on these pages are:

Age Restricted Items: Where products are deemed unsuitable for use by certain age groups, we have made this cleared in the item description. Anyone under the age of 18 is prohibited from ordering/purchasing these items. Where there are items with the age restriction on them you will be asked to confirm you accept our terms and conditions before you can place your order.
Delivery Period: Following receipt and clearance of payment, all purchase(s) will be posted within three working days, however our aim is same day dispatch. All parcels are dispatched with proof of posting. We will not be liable for lost item(s) in the post. If you would like your item to be dispatched Signed For or Special Delivery please choose this option in the shopping basket area.
Payment Methods: We accept all the major credit / debit cards via our payment gateway PayPal or over the telephone.
Online Orders & Card Security: All credit / debit card orders placed online are made on a secure, encrypted server to ensure the privacy and security of your information. All payment transactions take place on the secure encrypted server of our payment processor (PayPal) - we never have access to your card details at any time.
Out of stock item(s): From time to time item(s) purchased from our website may not be in stock due to the item(s) being sold in our retail shop. We do however have 2 or 3 deliveries each week so items are not out of stock for long. We will notify you straight away if your item(s) is not in stock. We will inform you when the item(s) is due back in, if you are happy to wait for the item(s) we will send it out as and when it arrives or you can have a full refund on the item(s) we don’t have in stock.
Samples: We have a sampling service which samples measure approx. 10cm x 15cm and come tagged with all the fabric and yarn details. To purchase samples please contact us either via e-mail or phone. Purchasing sample(s) does not reserve the fabric.
Foreign customers: We are happy to send item(s) overseas. Once you have added your item(s) to the basket, just select your country and the postage will be automatically calculated. If any parcel(s) are subject to tax duties, import duties or excise duty on the way, you will be required to pay this on receipt of your parcel, Watson & Thornton will not be held responsible for this cost.
Gift Vouchers: Gift vouchers can only be used instore. Valid for 12 months from date of purchase, Must be used in a single transaction, Cannot be exchanged for cash.
Refunds: We do not refund or exchange any patterns, cut goods, fat quarters or books. We do not exchange or refund goods without a valid receipt. We do not exchange or refund goods after a 28day period has elapsed. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Returns: All returned item(s) must be in the same condition as they were when purchased. Postal charges will not be refunded on any returned item(s). We will not be liable for the returned postal charge or loss of item(s).
Pictures of Products: Would customers please note that all computer monitors have a slight variation of colour(s), therefore colours shown on your screens maybe slightly different to the actual colour(s) purchased.
Changes or Cancellations by the customer: All bookings must be paid in full at the time of booking and are inclusive of VAT. If you find yourself unable to attend or want to cancel your booking and you inform us more than 7 days in advance you can transfer to a future workshop or have a full refund. If, however, you cannot attend or want to cancel your booking and it’s less than 7 days we do not offer any refunds but would be happy to move you to another workshop to a later date. We do not accept any cancellations 24 hr before the course so no refunds nor transfers would be offered. You can always send a friend to take your place - just let us know the name change in advance please.
Cancellation by us: In the unlikely event when a class/workshop must be cancelled or postponed due to unavoidable circumstances or if a class is undersubscribed, we will give you a minimum of 24 hrs notice. You will be offered an alternative date, credit or refund for the same value as your course. We will not be liable for any other costs, wasted travel or expenses that you may incur.
Minimum Class Numbers: Most of our courses will run with 1 or more students booked, however we do require a minimum of 4 students to be booked on for some of the patchwork courses. We may choose to run with less than 4 bookings, but we reserve the right to reschedule undersubscribed classes.
Student Ability/Competency: Watson & Thornton reserve the right to move students from a class if their sewing ability or technical sewing competence is not at the required level and would be such that it hinders the teaching and progress of other students. In such cases we would look to move the student to a class more suited to their current sewing level. All courses have a suggested ability guide listed on our website when booking, if you need help booking the right course please do not hesitate to contact us.
Student Conduct: Watson & Thornton requires all students to conduct themselves in a reasonable and proper manner at all times. Substantial obstruction of, or substantial improper interference with, the functions, duties or activities of any student or member of staff will result in the student being asked to leave the class. We will not tolerate any violent, indecent, disorderly, threatening, intimidating or offensive behaviour or language towards staff or any other students. Any such action will result in the student being asked to leave the class and we reserve the right to cancel attendance of further classes in extreme cases.
Health & Safety: Students are asked to wear appropriate clothing and footwear to practical classes and use sharp tools in a safe and careful manner. Students who fail to comply with health and safety rules will be unable to participate in practical classes.
Running Late: If you are running late for your lesson, please can you inform us via email or phone before your lesson is due to begin. If you are more than 30 min late for your lesson, we reserve the right to cancel your attendance. As with the nature of a group class, late arrivals will impact the progress of the rest in the class, so please aim to be on time.
